The 11th annual Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run supported Feed Northland Kids.
KANSAS CITY, Mo.—October 22, 2021—The Prosperity Planning team walked, trotted, jogged, and sprinted their way to the finish line to help fill backpacks with food for children in need.
The 11th annual Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run was held Oct. 10 at Zona Rosa Town Center in Kansas City. Proceeds from the fundraiser went to the nonprofit organization Feed Northland Kids.
Feed Northland Kids runs BackSnacks, which gives food-filled backpacks to schoolchildren who might otherwise go hungry over the weekend. The nonprofit also operates Food for Thought food pantries at middle and high schools in the area.
“We were grateful to support a local organization doing such tremendous work in the community,” said Cindy Richey, CFP®, President of Prosperity Planning. “It hurts to think of children going hungry. Feed Northland Kids is really doing impressive work to make sure fewer kids are in that position.”
Richey (and her pup, [Ringo]) took part in the 5K with three other team members at Prosperity Planning, a fiduciary, fee-only wealth management firm in Kansas City:

“It was a pleasure to participate in the walk/run with the Prosperity team,” Noble said. “Not only were we supporting a good cause, but we got to spend time with each other outside of the office. The camaraderie kept us inspired all the way to the finish line.”
The Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run is in memory of Bill Cross, former Gladstone mayor and a “teacher, coach, administrator, mentor, and role model for more than 35,000 area students,” according to the event webpage. People of all ages participate in the event, from children under 6 with a kids trot all the way to adults 70-plus.
