Kansas City, MO – On Friday, September 5, 2025, Prosperity Planning employees volunteered at an event for Feed Northland Kids, packing Community Food Kits to help families facing food insecurity across the Northland.
The Community Food Kits program began as an emergency response during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since become an ongoing effort to support local children and their families. Six school districts participate: Liberty, North Kansas City, North Platte, Platte County, Smithville, and West Platte.
Each kit includes a grocery bag filled with fifteen shelf-stable items, plus fresh bread and frozen ground beef. Some kit distributions also include a large box of fresh produce. These items are made possible in part through partnerships with organizations like Balls Foods, C&C Produce, Green Grass Cattle Company, Hy-Vee, and Roma Bakery.
At the September 5th event, Prosperity Planning volunteers worked to these kits, assembling the full assortment of items readying them for distribution to families.
“Volunteering for Feed Northland Kids’ Community Food Kits program gives us a chance to have an impact on keeping families fed over the weekend,” said Travis Franks at Prosperity Planning. “We’re honored to help ensure that children in our Northland communities don’t go without.”
Feed Northland Kids distributes these kits weekly through their network and partners, helping to ensure children have access to nutritious food outside school hours. Prosperity Planning’s participation is part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to service in our community.
